Code Kinder is a multisport fundamental movement program aligned to the "Active start" phase of the Long Term Athlete Development Model.
The LTADM is current industry best practise and is based on extensive research into physical and brain development, developmental windows of opportunity and long term retention in sports. It focuses on a whole person approach to sports coaching, including the four corner approach to athlete development. This approach refers to the childs progress in sport as a combination of the following factors - technical, psychological, physical and social/ emotional. A strong focus on combining all 4 elements are what lead to future athletic ability, success and long term engagement with sports and fitness. The LTADM prescribes seven phases of athlete development, aligned to periods of physical growth and maturation. It prescribes specific learning approaches and fundamental movement patterns at different ages, aligning with windows of opportunity, where the growing body is most capable of increasing speed, power, coordination and technical skills. The "Active start" phase is the 0 - 6 years program, which takes fundamental movements, muscle memory and required abilities from multiple sports including ball sports, apparatus handling, gymnastics, athletics and fitness as well as social aspects such as teamwork, personal space and listening skills and delivers fun activities the kids will love. Participants in Code Kinder programs will develop important multisports skills in a progressive manner, with drills and correct techniques taught for future success and engagement in any sport.
